Maha Shivratri means “the big night of Lord Shiva” and during the entire night devotees worship Lord Shiva. The NMMC Education Committee is undergoing a lot of welcome changes ever since Ravi Iyer has taken over as the Committee’s Chairman. Unlike past chairmen including Ram Vichare who were busy with their businesses and hardly attended to the basic needs of municipal education or made any attempt to better the quality of education imparted in municipal schools. During Ram Vichare’s tenure, the education committee was marred with several allegations of corruption in uniforms, books and even mid-day meals. However, when Ravi Iyer took over, not only did it lift the image of the education committee but the Chairman has also been more focus, determined and displays will to initiate measures that are a hopeful beginning of the change that is needed within classroom of municipal schools. We caught up with NMMC Education Committee Chairman Ravi Iyer post the inauguration ceremony. Beyond any doubt, Ravi Iyer seems to be living up to the expectations that Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik had while appointing him as the NMMC Education Committee Chairman.
