Minster collects funds for sacked workers

Mumbai, Monday, June 23,2008
State Labour Minister Ganesh Nik got his industrialist friends to pool in funds to help settle the demands of 57 temporary workers who were retrenched after standard Alkali a Thane-based company - shut down. Naik's Friends also helpen 127 NOCIL workers reach an out of court settlement for their dues. These workers received their compensation amounts at a programme held at Ghansoli village on sunday. While the standard Alkali workers received Rs 3.5 lakh each in cash, each NOCIL workers got Rs 1 Lakh.
